A trip to Paris for celebration and healing
This week is our 27th wedding anniversary! Because Covid and work commitments significantly altered our plans to celebrate our 25th anniversary two years ago, we decided to add an extra week to our Camino trip and spend it in Paris.
The city is so beautiful! We have walked all over Paris in the past 3 days and visited so many amazing places. On our second day in Paris we walked up the long and very steep hill to Montmartre. We can see the beautiful cathedral in the distance from the corner by our hotel.

Once we made it to the top of the hill, La Basilique du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre was our first stop. The church is breathtaking. Thinking of the thousands of people who have visited this space over hundreds of years is awe inspiring.
I lit a candle in memory of mom.
Healing and celebrating can go together. There is a cloud is sadness over our trip, but we have so much to be grateful for and to look forward to. I’m happy for this time away and time together in such a magical place.
Some other great stops on our walking tour were Notre Dame and the Arch de Triomphe at sunset.

On a lighter note, we found an "Emily in Paris" walking tour on Pinterest and decided to eat lunch in Gabriel's restaurant. In real life it is an amazing Italian restaurant called Terra Nera. We were entertained by the dozens of fans, most of them young women dressed in outfits you might find on the show, lining up to take pictures of the restaurant. The owner of the restaurant asked Dan if we were fans of the show 😂 so this must be a regular occurrence for them.

The Eiffel Tower was a beautiful sight!
